MY BICYCLE
I was going through my memorabilia and I remembered an incident that happened when I was ten and would love to share it with you.
My dad promised me a bicycle then, I was ecstatic. Then as a ten year old kid I didn’t know as much as I know now, I didn’t even think about things like, how much the bicycle cost?, how much my father earned?, how it fitted into his present budget?, if in fact the bicycle deal ever realistic considering inflation and depreciation?. Of course you would agree with me that no ten year old kid could possibly think of all that (except he is a prodigy of course).
All I knew then was if daddy had said he would buy
it that settled it. I practically live every waking moment with the
thought of my bicycle; I even rode on an imaginary bicycle all around
the house to the amusement of my elder ones.
Did I finally get the bicycle? You bet I sure did.
Now as I reminisce about my childhood day I remember the part in the
bible that reads: “...Unless you turn from your sins and be as little
children, you will never get into the kingdom of God...” (Matt 18:3).
Faith like a child is what God requires from His children as long as He
has said it then will He do it.
That was the kind of faith that moved Abraham. Putting every human understanding aside and trusting God for His word.
Now eighteen years later, am here planning to buy
a car, considering my present income my kids my would probably finish
the payment as I hear Him whisper into my ear, faith like a child can
move mountains.
Have a childlike faith.
